SALES #1

Anytime I talk to anyone who knows little about sales, they tell me that sales is a personality gift you receive at birth, an art! Sales is anything but. People have a perception of sales people that it is there job to sell as much to you as possible and to get the most money from you in the quickest time possible.

What people don’t recognise is that a professional sales person see themselves as someone who helps the customer buy a product or service that will fulfil a need that they have. People also don’t recognise that sales is a precise mathematical equation. Without getting all technical on anyone, it simple boils down to personal ratios. More on that later.

Sales is also a skill that can be learned. I order to learn sales you need to be open to 3 things:
• Knowledge
• Skills
• Attitude.

The ‘skills’ of sales is just one part of the learning process. Let me explain what I mean!
The knowledge is the information you need. This is the theory behind why you do certain things in sales.
The skills part is putting the knowledge in to practice. It is fine tuning how to do sales.
The attitude is the most important part of the process. The attitude is the want to do. This is the most important part because if you have the knowledge and the skills but have no motivation or want to practice and get out there to do it, guess what?? You’ll never be a sales person.

So in order to increase sales in your company, you need to either hire someone who has the right attitude to sales, the job and your company.
If you look after sales yourself with in your company, you need to work on all three areas in order to become proficient at sales.
